Telephone hard line or cellular?

Will hard line telephone be superseded by cellular phone or Internet phone, just like e-mail knocked out telegraph in early 2006?

Not for now.

Cell phone is more expensive than hard line phone.

Just considering the flat rate subscription, may not show the real cost of cellular.

But when you consider the time allowed or the number of minutes you are allowed for that flat rate, using a cell phone as a primary telephone may be very expensive.

In North America, most every body has a flat rate for his hard line telephone. The flat rate is independent of the time used.

The average flat rate for hard line compares to about 200 minutes of cell phone communication.

It is not hard to talk over the phone for more than 200 minutes per month.

For sure if you are on the road, doing business, a mobile phone is very helpful and sometimes a must.
If you have to use it a lot, you will be able to get more interesting flat rates.
In countries or areas where no hard line structures exist, implementing mobile phone service is much less expensive than hard line deployment and since there is no choice that is the only way to go.

Occasional use

If you need or want a cell phone only for occasional use or for security when on the road, you can get prepaid cards for a flat rate and a minimum number of minutes. This is probably the best way to go. Check offers .

You will not get all the bells and whistles that you can get with a flat rate subscription like: call forward, vocal mail and others, but do you really need it? Hard line besides being used for telephone is also used for Internet communication.

Hard line phone is migrating slowly to Internet protocol, using the Internet network to carry voice. This is called voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) .This technology will probably save you money for long distance calls.
