Are you influenced by product packaging?

Have you ever noticed how product packaging will influence your shopping? Just take buying milk, milk is only milk, no question about that.

The only thing to decide is buying skim or richer milk like 2% fat or higher and in what quantity.

Now what appends when it is decided?

Many different packaging are offered, the cheapest and maybe the most practical but not the nicest looking when you buy it is the plastic bag packaging.

Buy a nice pitcher and when on your table it will sure look nicer than putting the cardboard or plastic container right on the table.
Besides being the cheapest and most practical, it will help preserve environment, you will not have as much recycling to do.

Other packaging is also available but why pay more for the same product.

Ice cream

Another example is ice cream. When you come to buy ice cream, what caches your eyes is the superb almost tasty image on the package.

You buy the image, but the other container just beside contains exactly the same product but in cardboard instead of plastic with in molded image on it. Why not buy this one?

Private brands

The best way to make savings on product packaging is buying the private brands of your supermarket 99% of the time they will be cheaper than and as good as the brand name product, without the fancy package.

Most of the time these private brand products are manufactured by the same people, but packaged under a different name.

Fancier packaging is more expensive than simple one but manufacturers usually get a better price for their products in fancier packages and improve their margins.

Beer Companies

Just think about the beer Companies and see how careful they are with their labels and bottles when they market fancier products.

They sell it for a premium price, make a better margin and the retailer makes a better profit selling these products.
