Credit Card phising scam
Credit card phising is another fraud to be aware of. Crooks may call you pretending that they are representative of your Credit Card Company. They will say that they want to check your card because there seems to be a problem with it. They will even give you your Card number. When you acknowledge the card number, they will then ask you the security code number that is on the back of your card. They will ask the last three digits of that number. Do not be fouled. This is for sure a scam. NEVER give this code to people calling you. If you do, they will then be able to buy stuff with your card up until you realize you have been defrauded. That may take awhile up until you receive your next statement or up until your card company sees that what you pay with your card is unusual with your buying habits. The Card Company may then call you and ask you if you bought goods at a specific store by phone or on Internet. They will not ask your card number neither the 3-digit security code. What appends next? If you did not buy, they will cancel your card right away. Going on vacation.Let's say you are on a vacation trip in a foreign country or a far away place you do not usually go to. You use your credit card for the hotel or restaurant and the amount charged is quite substantial. That first charge may go through without problem. The second one may be blocked because the Credit Card Company will detect unusual behavior and think you are being defrauded. Otherwise, if you are a frequent traveler, they will detect normal behavior. If you travel and it is unusual for you better let your card company where you are going so that they do not block your card.
Always beware of phising.
